Official Notion MCP Server

Notion's own MCP server. Once installed, the AI can search your workspace, read page content, and add rows to databases. A typical use is "file these meeting notes into the project database, filling the fields the way the existing rows do".

It beats copy-paste because it understands your database schema — the AI fills select, date, and relation properties correctly instead of dumping everything into one text block.

What it does for you

Lets your AI read and write your Notion — query pages, create notes, update databases, so 'save it to Notion' just happens.

Capabilities

  • Search / read Notion pages
  • Create pages and write content
  • Update Notion databases

Once installed, try asking your AI

Say this directly in Claude / Cursor or any client with this server connected

  • Turn these meeting notes into a Notion page
  • Add a task to my Notion database: submit proposal tomorrow

Why use it

Good for: people using Notion as a knowledge base or project tracker, especially with structured databases.

Before connecting: Notion integrations are authorised per page — you explicitly share pages with the integration before it can see them. That's actually a feature: it gives you a natural permission boundary.

Before you connect

🔑 Needs an API key / tokenNode.jsDocker

Config example (to connect)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "notionApi": {
      "command": "npx",

      "env": {
        "NOTION_TOKEN": "ntn_****"
      }
    }
  }
}

Derived from the registry manifest (package type and transport) — we have not installed it ourselves. Check the official README before relying on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it see my whole workspace?

No. Only the pages and databases you've explicitly shared with the integration; anything unshared is invisible to it.

Does it work on free Notion?

Yes. Integrations are available on the free plan — just create an integration token.
